Copper plates..Chepopedu grants (Tamra Patras)- these are legal documents of ancient era often recording royal orders (raja- sasanas) typically tax exempted land grants mainly to religious institutions & figures. Those lands were called Bramhadeyas (when donated to Brahmins), Devadanas (when donated to Gods) & Agraharas (when given as settlements to priests). These copper plates are long, designed in landscape format. A legal document spreads on several plates, those were joined by a ring passing through a hole made in each of the plates and soldered with a seal containing royal emblem, Insignia (Raja-mudra for authenticity). Even though Tamra patras were used all over ancient India, they are discovered in huge numbers in South India. Bhringi*#Bhringi, one of the Ganas of Lord Shiva at Rameshwara temple, Keladi, Sagar #Shimoga . #Karnataka . 16th centuryThe Rameshwara temple is one of the few temples that features the carvings of sage Bhringi, the great sage & bhaktha of Shiva who is cursed by Parvathi. The Rameshwara temple is one of the few temples that features Bhringi, the great sage & bhaktha of Shiva who is cursed by Parvathi. Cursed for the fact that he recognized only Shiva & not Shakti, but later realizes that there is no Shiva without Shakti vice versa. For that he is given a 3rd leg to support himself. This sculpture of Bhringi is unique to the Keladi Rameshwara temple.

Design: Built in Dravidian style, chariot has carvings depicting mythical battle scenes. Standing on two giant 4 wheels, elephants are seen pulling the chariot. Stone Chariot is made of multiple smaller stones assembled to perfection. A Dancing Shiva from Ambari, Gawhati at present in the Assam State Museum, Gawhati... The beauty of this Murti is the depiction of Natraja (Shiva) dancing on just a toe on Nandi's back... A Few also therefore also call it Rishabhnartana murti... Another notable feature is the calm and serene look along with a lithe slimness despite the energy of the entire composition as also the depiction of the "kankal" skeletal figure and a gana on either side at the Bottom "Distinctive features: dancing ON his vahana, the bull Nandi, who seems to have raised his hoof ‘to join the dance’! Ayudhas in the hu hands of dancing Siva: Khadga, Khetaka, kapala, trishula, danda, shakti, khatvanga, nagapasha. On His left side a dancing Bhootagana caries a trident, a waterpot on his shoulder... Caries Cymbals with his right hand.
